Continental wants new unit to attract mobility partners

Continental this calendar year said it would produce a dedicated device for its innovative driver-assistance and autonomous technologies, betting that it could increase in that large-tech space even as level of competition heats up.

The new device, identified as Autonomous Mobility, is expected to start Jan. 1.

In the latest months, Continental has declared partnerships in the large-tech space with businesses significant and little. They contain a partnership with lidar organization AEye Inc. and an automotive software package improvement system it produced with Amazon Website Companies.

Petznick, who will lead the new small business, said starting to be its individual device will allow for Autonomous Mobility to run somewhat independently from the rest of Continental, which described international authentic devices sections and process revenue of $29.68 billion final calendar year, and give the new entity the potential to transfer at a more rapidly pace and enter into more partnerships in the space.
