Transporters say motor vehicles are idling not only for the reason that of minimal business enterprise but also a sharp driver shortage. “Right now only thirty-35% of the vans are working for the reason that the business enterprise is incredibly scanty and factories are not working at peak ability,” stated Ramesh Aggarwal of the All India Transporters Welfare Association.

Chennai: Driver scarcity along with minimal manufacturing facility output as organizations shutdown crops despatched truck rentals crashing by eighteen-27% in April, a report stated.

“Arrival of fruits and veggies in APMCs is down 10-15% across the region. This along with manufacturing facility shutdowns has afflicted truck rentals in trunk routes. Delhi-Mumbai return rentals are down 23%, Delhi-Hyderabad and Delhi-Kolkata down 21%, Delhi-Chennai and Delhi-Bengaluru down 19%,” stated SP Singh, senior fellow & coordinator, Indian Foundation of Transport Exploration & Schooling (IFTRT).
