Seven-time System A person champion Lewis Hamilton been given his knighthood for solutions to motorsport on Wednesday, days soon after he lost out on what would have been a history eighth title soon after a tense last lap at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Hamilton retains the history for most race wins with 103 although he is tied with German great Michael Schumacher on 7 drivers’ championships.
The 36-year-old Briton, the sport’s only Black driver, was manufactured a Knight Bachelor by Britain’s Prince Charles all through an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle in England.
Hamilton is the fourth F1 driver to be knighted soon after the late Australian Jack Brabham, Stirling Moss and triple champion Jackie Stewart, and the only 1 to have been given the award although still racing.
Other active sportsmen who have been given a knighthood are cycling’s Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins, Olympic 5,000 and ten,000 meters gold medallist Mo Farah, twice Wimbledon champion Andy Murray and England cricketer Alastair Prepare dinner.
Hamilton lost out on the 2021 title to Red Bull driver Max Verstappen on Sunday. The two were equal on points prior to the final race in Abu Dhabi, exactly where the Dutchman overtook Hamilton on the final lap to raise his maiden title.
