THE Express marks Mitsubishi’s return to the mid-sized light-business van sector in Australia just after seven decades away, with the Japanese model on the lookout to fellow alliance member Renault to help supply the items.
Developed in the very same Sandouville manufacturing unit in northern France, the new Express shares all of its DNA with the French marque’s very own Trafic van, and Mitsubishi’s Australian subsidiary admits it would have been extremely hard to return to the segment without the help of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.
To see how the Express stacked up, we invested a day out west testing it in the Perth CBD and encompassing suburbs with a quick foray into the nearby hills – just the kind of atmosphere this sort of automobile spends most of its life in.
