New Gordon Murray Automotive T.33 supercar to sit below T.50

Gordon Murray Automotive’s subsequent supercar will be known as the T.33 and will be unveiled on 27 January, the organization has verified – and the automobile is to be built at the company’s new world wide headquarters in Windlesham, Surrey.

Also referred to as Challenge Two, the new T.33 design is expected to keep the Cosworth-created V12 motor from the radical T.fifty, but lose that car’s 3-seater structure and its advanced floor-result supporter. It’s expected to be created in little figures, in line with GMA’s ethos of only ever creating up to a hundred examples of any of its types.

In a limited statement, Gordon Murray Automotive described the new design as ‘the world’s greatest supercar GT’ and explained the new HQ and Engineering Campus, known as Highams Park, would be the foundation for its production, as properly as “most of the enhancement work”. The former BOC facility was taken more than by GMA in 2020, and £50m is getting invested on acquiring its offices, as properly as on a heritage centre, consumer gross sales and servicing facilities, and a test observe.

Murray himself has explained to Car Categorical previously that the T.33 is possible to be the previous GMA vehicle to element a normally aspirated powerplant, without having some kind of electrification.

“We’ve appeared very long and tough at potential regulations, and we can get in one particular much more normally aspirated design. The income it price tag us to construct the V12 and transmission from scratch, we’ve acquired to consider to get a minor little bit back,” the former McLaren designer explained. “The powertrain is what feeds back into Challenge Two. It’s a model new system for that vehicle we’re starting once more on that. The T.fifty was a exceptional monocoque, since of the supporter and the central driving place, so it would be difficult to consider that and adapt it to a two-seater.”

Murray has declined to give a price for the T.33, beyond confirming that it will be much more reasonably priced than the £2.36m T.fifty. “If you are only executing a hundred vehicles, they’re not likely to be £150,000,” he explained to us. “But I promise T.fifty will be our halo vehicle it is a very high-priced vehicle, and Challenge Two won’t be at that amount.”
