Specifically, GCK will enter a rallycross version of the Delta Evo-e in next year’s inaugural FIA World Rallycross Championship, where it will race against 13 competitors.
“It is pleasing to see our vision for the electrification of the FIA World Rallycross Championship coming to fruition with the confirmation of a field of 14 entries for the inaugural electric season,” said Jean Todt, President of the FIA. “Electric mobility is assuming increasing importance and World RX is the perfect stage to showcase the performance capabilities of electric road cars in an FIA World Championship environment.”
Replacing the original Delta’s turbocharged inline-four are two electric motors generating a combined 680 hp and 649 lb-ft of torque. With all-wheel-drive and semi-slick tires, the Delta Evo-e will sprint accelerate from 0-60 mph in a neck-snapping 1.8 seconds, making it even faster than a Formula One car and 0.5 seconds faster than a Rimac Nevera.
