Sort My Sign: Transport watchdog launches campaign for better road signs

A transportation watchdog is calling for far better street signage, encouraging drivers to report lousy signage in their region.

Transport Concentrate has released a new marketing campaign called Sort My Indication which will see motorists complaining to Highways England about faulty, destroyed or obstructed street signals on four,300 miles of motorways and significant A streets.

The aim of the marketing campaign is to increase the usefulness of street signals, such as digital signals, assisting street end users make extra informed conclusions, bettering basic safety and reducing the pressure of driving.

Transport Concentrate needs to see Highways England correcting inaccurate street signals, furnishing far better details for the duration of delays and reviewing present criteria for street signals.

Anthony Smith, main govt of the Transport Concentrate, claimed: “We want to hear from street end users about signals and details that aren’t up to scratch. We’ll use what you say to push Highways England to make journeys simpler and safer.

“There is absolutely nothing extra aggravating than missing your turnoff due to the fact the indication was hidden driving a tree or missing very important details.

“While we have some of the most secure streets, there are still far too lots of signals which are damaged, perplexing or out of date. If it’s not apparent, it’s not risk-free.”

RAC spokesman Rod Dennis commented: “While it might be Britain’s ongoing problem with potholes that attracts most of the headlines, regrettably they are not the only problem with our streets.

“RAC information displays that amongst drivers who think the issue of the streets has worsened in the last twelve months, close to just one in 5 say it’s in fact lousy signage visibility that is the problem, with a comparable proportion complaining about a deficiency of foliage management.
