The ZF Team reported it experienced acquired “various huge-scale orders from North American vehicle brands” for its eight-velocity PowerLine automated transmission, together with “the most significant individual professional-vehicle-similar purchase in business background”.
Manufacturing will begin in 2023 at Grey Courtroom, South Carolina wherever ZF is increasing its transmission plant, expending EUR150m and building five hundred new positions.
After winning “various main orders in the passenger vehicle section”, ZF reported it experienced approached new customers with a variant of the transmission for CVs.
“Thanks to PowerLine’s versatile engineering, we can now establish on its success also in the professional vehicle section,” said Wilhelm Rehm, of ZF’s professional vehicle engineering unit.
“Next Europe and China, our professional vehicle transmissions are now also present in the vital North American marketplace. Orders like this contribute to making the revenue we need to have to commit in long term-oriented engineering and the transformation of our business.”
In Oct 2020, world wide PowerLine manufacturing started out in Friedrichshafen, Germany, wherever the transmission was developed.
Now, ZF employs about two,200 at the US plant which started out procedure in 2012.
